Emilia Stenta

Emilia Stenta (Marcello) Mimi, Mama, Nonno passed away surrounded by her loving family on August 14, 2017. She is predeceased by her husband Alfredo; parents Aquilino and Rosina Marcello; sisters Antonietta, Piacentina; brother Alfredo. She is survived by her sister Nicoletta (Italo) Gualtieri; caring children John Stento, Aquilino "Lino"and Liliana Stenta, Maria and Marty Scouvert; loving grandchildren Jon Stento, Lino (Tracy) Stenta, Jason (Marriana) Stenta, Justin Stenta, Marco Scouvert and Niko Scouvert; precious great-grandchildren Alannah, Mariano, Adriano, Lucca, Tristano and Mateo Stenta; as well as many very specieal nieces, nephews and cousins; angels: April White and Christina Fallon. Emilia survived the hardships of WWII in Italy. She worked for her family's farm and was care taker to her parents. In 1960, Alfredo and Emilia moved their family to Binghamton, where she worked as a shoemaker at EJ’s until she retired in 1985 to take care of her grandkids. Emilia was a great provider, dedicated and loving wife and mother. She will be rememebered for her delicious homemade spaghetti, meatballs and sauce, amazing almond cookies and most of all her “sponge cake.”  When any family arrived at the house she would quickly get her pots and pans out to make you a meal. You never left there hungy. The family would like to express their appreciation for the wonderful care and compassion shown to our mother by the staff at Willow Point Nursing Home. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5 until 8pm at the THOMAS J. SHEA Funeral Home Inc. 137 Robinson St. Binghamton, NY. A Funeral Mass will be offered at 9:30am on Friday at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Binghamton, NY. Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Alzhimers Foundation in Emilia’s memory. Arrangements are in the care of Albert J. DeMarco.
