Evelyn M. (Sisolak) Desimone

February 19, 1926 ~ August 7, 2017 (age 91) 91 Years Old

Evelyn M. Desimone, 91 of Binghamton NY went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 7, 2017.  She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 56 years; John Desimone, her parents Michael & Albina Sisolak, sister Elizabeth Stewart, and brother George Sisolak.  She is survived by her children Donna (Tom) Gillette, Barbara (Ron) Reudink, John M. Desimone, Maria (Ken) Klawiter, Collette (David) Coffey, 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and sisters MaryAnn(Doug) Skinner, Rose Benyo and Shirley Masaryk. Brother in law Joseph (Dawn) Desimone.  Evelyn attended Woodrow Wilson Elementary, and graduated from Binghamton Central High School. After graduation, Evelyn worked in the art department at Frank A. West, then later went on to work as a secretary in the office for Catholic Charities.  Evelyn also worked as a school secretary for Blessed Sacrament School in Johnson City, and as the Parish secretary for St. Mary of the Assumption; Binghamton.  She later retired from the Diocese of Syracuse after many years of service.  As a lifelong parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption, she had a deep devotion to the Blessed Mother. She dedicated much of her time as a Religious Education Teacher, Pre-Cana leader, Lector, Extraordinary Minister, member of the Altar Rosary Society, Liturgy Committee, and Parish Council.  In 2016, Evelyn was awarded a special wooden cross representing her commitment to the Binghamton CSJ Associates Community for 25 years!  Evelyn and her husband John were actively involved in Marriage Encounter as a presenting team couple for many years.   She was a loving wife, devoted mother/grandmother, and faithful friend to many.  Evelyn enjoyed many hobbies including years of ceramics; and most recently her reconnection with painting as she so beautifully expressed her visions through her brush strokes on the canvas.    She loved sports, and being part of a bowling team for many years.  She was a huge fan of NY Yankees &  NY Giants.    In her youth, she sang in the church choir, and enjoyed spending time at the Fountains Pavilion listening to the Big Bands. She loved gardening & cooking, and was especially proud of her lasagna & homemade cheesecakes and potato salad!  Calling hours (visitation) will be held on Monday, August 14, 2017 from 4-7 at Thomas J. Shea Funeral Home Inc. 137 Robinson Street, Binghamton NY.  A funeral service will be held at 845 on Tuesday at the funeral home followed by church services at St. Mary of the Assumption in Binghamton at 930.  Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, all donations can be made to the Refurbishment fund at St. Mary of the Assumption parish, or to The Dannielle House.
