Frank Whitney, Jr., 78, of Binghamton, NY, passed away peacefully at home the morning of Friday, April 19th. Frank is predeceased by his parents Frank and Marie Whitney, and brother Phillip. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lynn, whom he loved dearly. He leaves behind his son Brian (Cathlene), granddaughter Marisa (Nathaniel), great-grandson Theodore, grandson Alex; daughter Kristie (Greg), grandsons Christian, Matthew, granddaughter Summer; daughter Sara (Ray), and grandson Lucas. In addition, he leaves behind his sister Sherry (Max), brother Lance (Mary), sister Mazie (Chuck), sister Kathy, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Frank was a successful businessman, owning and operating CMS Imaging Solutions with his wife Lynn for over 40 years. As a board member of the Boys and Girls Club of Binghamton, he was honored in 2019 for his 30 years of dedication to the club. Frank had a passion for restoration, evident through his work on countless antique cars, culminating in the restoration of the 121-year-old Kilmer Building.
Frank was a familiar face at many local car shows, as well as a member of the Iroquois and Model A Car Clubs. Back in the day, Frank participated in numerous cross country road races and rallies. In his first year participating in the Great American Race in 1990, Frank was celebrated with a ticker-tape parade on Main Street in Disneyland, California, winning Rookie of the Year.
Frank loved anything with an engine; boats, airplanes, Jeeps, 4-wheelers, snowmobiles, motorcycles, and more. He enjoyed countless special moments with his dear friends Dick and Eleanor, Dan and Sandy, Dave and Joanna, and many others.
A special thank you to all the caregivers, nurses, aides, and so many others who provided comfort and friendship.
