Deborah Neulon

July 28, 2017

Deborah A. (Schermerhorn) Neulon, 62, of Binghamton, NY, passed away unexpectedly on June 28, 2017.  Debbie was predeceased by her parents Evelyn and Curtiss Schermerhorn and her first husband Andrew Hemzik. She is survived by her husband Jeff, son Justin, sister Diane (Craig) Brown, mother-in-law Mildred Frey Neulon, sisters-in-law Sally Ann (Chris) Schuck, Sandra Beth Strickland, and Carol M.Trepa, niece Jennifer (Jonathon) Gottschall, niece Diane Trepa, niece Lisa Sherman, nephew Scott Sherman, nephew Brad Strickland, nephew Kal Strickland and several cousins.

Debbie was born in Binghamton in 1955 and lived most of her life in Port Dickinson. She was a 1973 graduate of Chenango Valley High School and attended Sullivan County Community College, majoring in graphic arts. A gifted artist at an early age, as a high school junior, she entered and won a statewide contest of student artists, winning the Broome County contest for exhibit at the newly opened NYS government mall in Albany.

She was a passionate, generous, and loyal daughter, wife, sister, and parent. She would say that her greatest accomplishment was as mother to her beloved son Justin. He was “the light of her life”! She was a fierce and proud cheerleader for him and his accomplishments in school and in life!

A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Debbie very much cared about the less fortunate in this world. In her memory, please consider making a donation to the charity of your choice.
