Eva Pandish Obituary

Eva Pandish, 95, of Binghamton, New York, passed away peacefully early Saturday, March 10, 2018 surrounded by her family, seven days shy of her 96th birthday. Eva was born in Elkhorn, West Virginia on March 17, 1922.  She was predeceased by her parents Steven Shaffron and Anna Zulick and was their youngest child of six children. She had four sisters, Mary Shaffron Damon, Julie Shaffron Kabanek, Ann Shaffron Rog, Sophia “Bunny” Bodnar; and one brother, Michael Schaffron Bodnar that predeceased her. During World War II, she went to Baltimore, Maryland and worked in a war factory assembling airplanes. Shortly after the war, she moved to Binghamton and married Andrew Pandish in 1948. They were married for 26 years until his death in 1974. While their time together on earth was short, her love for him was eternal. Eva worked at Binghamton General Hospital for over 25 years until her retirement at age 70. She was a member of St. Michael’s Orthodox Church. Eva was a devoted homemaker, enjoyed taking care of her home and loved her family and cherished her grandchildren. Surviving is her daughter, Sandra Maciak and her husband Dan of Binghamton; sons Ronald Pandish, and his wife Joanne of Binghamton and Steven Pandish and his wife Sue of Haymarket, VA; grandchildren, Jason (Charlene) Maciak of Marcellus, NY, Adam Maciak of Dallas, Texas, Brian Maciak of Binghamton and Lisa Maciak of Binghamton, Patti (Neil) Oakley, Kaylee, Miguel, Hannah and Elizabeth Pandish all of Binghamton, Michael Pandish of Cambridge MA and Matthew Pandish of Leesburg, VA great grandchildren, Adia and Elora Maciak. Nieces Terry (Eric) Goplerud of Reston, VA, Elizabeth Jan (Jon) Goplerud, of Lexington, MA, Darlene (Phil) Piazza of Ft. Myers, FL, Connie Shramek, Joyce Damon of W VA, and nephews: Richard (Betty) Kabanek of San Jose, CA, Michael (Cathy) Schaffron of Rochester, NY and Ed (Carol) Rog of NY; and dog Emma. The family would like to thank Dr. Ramanujan's office and Nancy Evans for their good care of Eva during her illness. Also, thank you to the best caregivers Lisa P, Chris S, Denise A, Sharon F and Pat O. Your help and support was much appreciated. The family will receive friends at the THOMAS J. SHEA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 137 Robinson St, Binghamton, NY 13904 on Tuesday, March 13th from 4-7pm, parastas will be held at 4pm. Visitation will also be held on Wednesday, March 14th from 10-11am at St Michael's Orthodox  Church and a Funeral Mass  will follow, 296 Clinton St, Binghamton, NY 13905. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Michaels Cemetery Fund.
