Gilbert Deforest Hunt, 95, joined his wife Brenda in Heaven May 12th, 2018. He was predeceased by parents, Ben and Frances Hunt; sisters, Marion, Sylvia, Thelma; son, Steven and grandson, Jeremy Majka. Gib is survived by his sister Beverly Wilmot; loving children, Shelley (George) Dafoe, Janice Sakovitch, Jeffrey (Catherine) Hunt; grandsons, Jakob Hunt, Jonathan Majka, Brian, Nathan, Erik Sakovitch; great grandchildren, Kendall, Asher, Emery; and numerous nieces/nephews. Gilbert was a proud WWII Army veteran serving HQ Medical Battalion in several European Theater combat campaigns. Gib was a lifetime member of East Side Congregational UCC, Deacon Emeritus and longtime member of VFW and American Legion. He was a 42yr veteran of Fairbanks Valves and member of 1st ward and Marathon senior centers. Gib was a devoted husband of 67 years; enjoyed camping with family/relatives, bowling and playing softball. Gib was a caring man, dedicated to family, well liked and will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held June 10th, 12 PM at East Side Cong. UCC, 284 Robinson Street, Binghamton. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to East Side Cong. UCC or charity of choice.
