James P. Meagher

James Phillip Meagher, 78, passed in peace on Thursday, November 1, 2018.  He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Norma, four adoring children, Terri Thexton, James R. Meagher (Beverly), Tammy Meagher (April), DJ Meagher (Dawn), and his younger brother Michael Meagher (CeCelia). Jim was blessed with seven beautiful grandchildren, Alex Thexton, Ryan Meagher, Madelyn Meagher, Megan Jackson (Matt), Natalie Meagher, Cooper Meagher, and Riley Meagher. He was a favorite to many loved nieces, nephews and cousins.  A boy from the Southside of Binghamton, Jim graduated from Central High School and Broome Technical Community College. The Genegantslet Golf Club was a second home for much of Jim’s life and up through October, Jim, a.k.a. The Spider, could be found at any one of his favorite local courses. He was known for his quick wit, his kind and compassionate spirit and was loved by all who knew him. Jim will be greatly missed and forever remembered.  The family is grateful to the staff of Mercy House of the Southern Tier for their empathetic care during Jim’s final days.
