Joanne M. (Sosnicki) Whalen

Joanne (Josie) Whalen, 80 of Conklin, NY passed away peacefully after a short illness, with her family by her side at Mercy House, Endicott, NY.  She was predeceased by her parents Arlene and Carl Sosnicki and her husband the love of her life Eugene "Ed" Whalen.  Joanne is survived by her six children, Michael (Ann Marie) Whalen, Geri (Doug) Wilcox, Mary (Gary) Dumas, Ed (Patti) Whalen, Tim (Janice) Whalen, Dan (Kate) Whalen, sister Jan (Keith) Leenheer; 13 grandchildren Stan (Lauren) Whalen, Andrew and Chelsea Whalen, Kelly (Howard) Singer, Sarah (Nick) Masters, Kyle and Shane Whalen, Karlie and Calvin Whalen, Marley and Emerson Whalen, and Michael and Maddie Singer; her very special great grandchildren, Bryce Singer, McKenna and Lizzie Masters, Daniel and Alana Whalen; sisters-in-law Doris Whalen and Helen Whalen; several cousins, nieces, and nephews and dear friend Bev Collins.  The Whalen family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at Lourdes Hospital and Mercy House for their wonderful care during Joanne's stay and to Dr. Kloss for the extraordinary care over the past fourteen years.  He always said she was his miracle. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, March 7th at Sts. John and Andrew Church on 7 Livingston St., Binghamton at 11:00am.  The family will receive friends at the THOMAS J. SHEA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 137 Robinson St, Binghamton on Tuesday from 4-7pm.  In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Mercy House, 212 N McKinley Ave., Endicott NY 13760.
