He is predeceased by his wife Judy and grandson Andrew Hayes.  He is survived by his six children and their spouses, John and Mary Hayes, James, Jeffrey, Joan and Mark Hobbs, Gregory and Michelle Hayes, and Michael and Shawna Hayes.  His grandchildren, Madeline, Anne, Erin, Michael, Edward and Eric.  Brothers and sisters-in-law Joseph Paoletti, Robert and Jodi Paoletti, Maria Hogan and Diane Stevens, Nieces and their spouses Mary Ann and Andrew Young, Caroline and Francis Vizvary, Cathy and James Baker, and Concetta and Enzo Ferragamo along with many nieces and nephews and dear friend Julie Marzo. John is a graduate of Wilson High School in Wilson Borough (Easton) Pennsylvania where he played the trumpet in the marching band and Drexel University in Philadelphia.  He began his career as a draftsman with the Dixie Cup Company in Easton and retired as General Manager of Atlantic Design Company in 1992 following 30 years of service. In retirement he worked part time for Endicott Interconnect and Bomag America.  Never one to take it easy in retirement John stayed active helping family and friends with home repair projects ranging from simple electrical repairs to remodeling and constructing new homes and family businesses. He enjoyed outdoor activities, snowmobiling, fishing, hunting & camping.  He was a Boy Scout leader with Troop 225 in Vestal planning and participating in annual weekend canoe and field trips to historic sites along the east coast. John loved time spent traveling with his friend Julie, cruising and seeing much of the USA. John, always outgoing and friendly, would strike up a conversation in the checkout line and become your friend after a five minute chat.  He was loved and will be missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers please make a gift to the charity of your choice and hug your family. Special thanks to his dedicated caregivers Joann, Sue, Kim, Pat & Zee.
