John P. O'Keefe

John (“Jack”) O’Keefe 88, of Binghamton, passed away peacefully August 3, 2017.  He was predeceased by his infant son Kevin; his parents John and Elizabeth O’Keefe; Sister Betty O’Keefe: infant brother Patrick; Sister Helen(O’Keefe) VanWoert and brother in-law Robert VanWoert.  He is survived by his wife of 64 years, June O’Keefe; devoted son Dennis and daughter in-law Lisa; Loving Grandchildren Domenico and Jessica (O'Keefe) Emilio; Conor and Lauren (O’Keefe) Heslin; and great grandchildren, Domenico & Carmella Emilio, Caleigh & Lisa Heslin.   He was a life-long Eastside resident, Graduate from St. Paul’s High School, and was a devoted member to the church.  He was a proud Korean War Veteran.  Jack enjoyed many business ventures throughout the years. Including, owning one of the first self-serve carwashes, and working for TWA.  His passion and love for traveling lead to his most successful business venture as co-Owner of Broome County Travel for 27 years. Most importantly, he cherished his loving wife June for 64 years.  Jack adored his son Dennis and daughter in-law Lisa, along with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren which brought him great joy to watch and spend time with.  Jack was one of the Good Guys.  Special thanks to the Van Woert, Egan and Bennett families for their support and love.  Also special thanks to a close family friend, Donna Donnelly.  The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the Nurses, Aids and Staff at Good Shepard Fairview Homes for all the care and love they gave Jack.  Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 6, 2017 from 4pm until 7pm at the THOMAS J. SHEA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 137 Robinson St. Binghamton.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 9:30am at St. Paul's Church in Binghamton.  Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
