Thomas F. Volk, Sr., age 71, passed away peacefully surrounded by his children on Wednesday, November 27th at Wilson Medical Center. Tom had suffered an unexpected stroke and left this world suddenly. He was predeceased by his parents, William C. Volk, Sr. and Ann Bachich Volk, as well as both of his siblings, William (Jayne) C. Volk, Jr., and Ann Goldenberg. He is survived by his four children, Diana (Dan Kinsley), Thomas Jr., Sarah, and Emily, two grandchildren, and nieces and nephew, along with many family members and dear friends.
As family and friends knew him, Tom was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, settled in the Binghamton area and ultimately retired from IBM after many years. Tom was a loyal member of the Southerntiersmen Barbershop Chorus for 16 years, and president of the chorus from 2016-2019. He considered all of his fellow members his brothers and sisters in harmony. He had a true passion for singing and loved to share his gift of song. All are welcome Saturday, December 7th at 2pm as we gather to remember him with a celebration of life event, sharing memories, stories, and song at Fahs Construction: 2224 Pierce Creek Rd, Binghamton, NY. Tom spent many nights here practicing and singing with his brothers in harmony. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the Southerntiersmen Barbershop Chorus. He will be missed by so many and his voice will never be forgotten. You never will be far away.
