Anthony P. Tierno

Anthony P. Tierno (Tony) of Binghamton, N.Y., passed away peacefully on June 5, 2024, from complications of Congestive Heart Failure; he was 97. He is predeceased by his parents, John Tierno and Karoline (Ciniello), his wife of 74 years, Phyllis (Pignatelli), his brother John Tierno, and eldest son Philip (“Phil”) Tierno. He is survived by his daughter Cindy Trojnar (Mark), son Brian Tierno (Jessica), daughter Lisa Tierno, and daughter-in-law Christy Tierno (Phil). Tony had six grandchildren; Zachary Trojnar (Amy), Amanda Shulkin (Nathan), Chris Tierno, Nick Tierno, Troy Tierno, and Sarafina Tierno. Tony was blessed with two great-grandchildren, Gracie and Maxwell Trojnar. Tony was called to serve in the US Army during World War II as a mechanic. After his tour of duty, he took a position in quality control with IBM and retired after 50 years. Tony and Phyllis spent many joyful years at their summer home in southern NJ. After they could no longer make the trip, they lived in Sunrise Terrace, Binghamton N.Y.. Tony took care of Phyllis until her passing in 2022 at the age of 93. He was independent until the very end of his life. He was a loyal husband, a great father and grandfather, who was always teaching life lessons. He was loved and will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 10, 2024 from 9am to 10am at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Binghamton. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10am.  Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery with Military Honors.
