Arteo (Arthur) Domenico Farneti is reunited in heaven with his beloved wife Mary (Mildred Vetrino) Farneti and son Arthur (Artie) Farenti. Art is also predeceased by parents Domenico and Mary Farneti. brothers and sisters-in-law Aldo and Jennie Farneti, and Enzo and Angelina Farneti. Art is survived by daughters Joann (Thomas) Newman and Renee Hillegas. Pop is also survived by grandchildren Terry McNerney, Mitchell (Lauren) Hillegas, and Liza Hillegas. He is also survived by great grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews that will miss him dearly. Arthur was born in Old Forge, PA, graduated from Scranton Technical School in 1946, enjoyed a long career at the old IBM, and he and Mary were lifelong members of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. Art and Mary’s retired life saw countless snowbird trips to Florida and Myrtle Beach. Beyond his family, Art enjoyed all sports, including hunting, fishing, harness racing, baseball, and especially golf. He was always ready to lend a hand on anyone’s home project, no matter how big or small. Summer days with Pop included trips to Tioga Downs or nine holes at Chenango Valley State Park, which always resulted in on-the-course instruction. Wherever he traveled, he invariably ran into a friendly face to chat with, whether it be at the bank, the store, the course, or the mutuel window. The thousands that knew Art knew him to be quick witted and would agree with Art’s own description that he was a “pinta”. Art’s family would like to thank the nurses, therapists, and care staff at Good Shepherd Fairview Home for their professionalism as Art rejoins the love of his life in Heaven. Art’s funeral Mass will be at St. Mary of the Assumption Church on Friday, December 9, at 10AM, with visitation from 9-10AM. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
