Barbara J. (Bowden) Martino

Barbara Jean Martino (Bowden), 73, of Kirkwood, NY passed away following a brief illness on June 1, 2023 at Wilson Hospital. Barbara was born on April 18, 1950 in Binghamton, NY. She is predeceased by her parents Thomas and Marie Bowden; her brothers Frank Dundon and Al Simms; her sisters and brothers in-law Jean Dundon, Lucille Ruggeri, Connie and Paul Pekera, and Frank Martino. Barbara is survived by her husband Philip and daughter Allison, son-in-law Justin Frisbie, and grandchildren Harper and Luca Frisbie; sisters Sister Maura Simms, Maryle Carns, and Marie Bowden; brothers and sisters in law Joan Martino, Eugene and Colleen Martino, Angelo and Jackie Martino, Susan Stento, Andrew and Robin Martino, Mary and Jerry Jones; and many nieces, nephews and friends. 
Barbara graduated from Catholic Central High School and Broome Community College. She worked at Hinman, Howard & Kattell for 10 years, then worked at IBM for 35 years where she retired in 2016. Barbara’s greatest joy in life was her family, especially her beloved daughter and best friend Allison, her best girl Harper and her sweet boy Luca. She was a devoted wife, Mom and Grandma who never passed up an opportunity to talk about how special her family was. She couldn’t have possibly loved them more.
Barbara was warm and welcoming to everyone she met and made them feel at home. She enjoyed shopping with her daughter, going out for dinner with “The Group”, doing crossword puzzles, going on vacations with family, and spending time with her grandchildren every chance she got. 
Calling hours will be from 4-6 PM on Monday June 5, 2023 at the THOMAS J. SHEA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 137 Robinson St., Binghamton, NY.  A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated on Tuesday, June 6th at 10 AM at St. Mary’s Church, 975 Route 11, Kirkwood, NY. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
