Bernadette Keough Obituary

Bernadette Ellen Hawley Keough, 100, passed away peacefully in her home in Hillcrest on Thursday, May 6, 2021.
Bernadette grew up in Silver Lake, PA, on her family’s farm and remained close to her large, extended family throughout her lifetime. She called Hillcrest home for over 60 years and was a familiar walker, waver and bus rider. She was a volunteer at St. Catherine of Siena Church and School, and then later St. Francis of Assisi Church, organizing or serving at countless meals, masses and celebrations. For over 30 years she kept house for the priests at the St. James Rectory, retiring at the age of 94. Mostly, though, she was known for the many quiet acts of kindness that she did for her family, neighbors and friends. She was fiercely independent, graciously kind and extraordinarily loved by her large family and many friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, James Keough; daughter, Colette Keough; son, Patrick Keough; son, Michael Keough; son-in-law, Richard Sirianna; brothers, Joseph and Edward Hawley, and sister-in-law, Rita Hawley.
She is survived by her children Susan (Edward) Collins, James (Sharon) Keough, Alice Sirianna, Sarah Keough, Anne Keough, Kevin Keough, daughter-in-law Mary Keough, Therese (Kevin) Esworthy, and Mary Beth (Terry) Kiff. She also leaves behind 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren, as well as a brother, Vince (Mary) Hawley, and sister-in-law, Anne Hawley, and many nieces and nephews. Her family is especially grateful to her caregivers Reva C. and Rita G.
