Brian B. Southern

Brian B. Southern 87 of Binghamton NY entered into eternal rest from the comfort of his home on Wednesday November 20, 2024. He was born in Oneonta NY, March 27, 1937.                           

Brian was the son of the late Carlton J. Southern, his father and the late Florence B. Merchant, his mother. He was married to Eileen (Kincer) Southern for over 50 years and she proceeded him in death in January 2024 this year.                                       

Brian graduated from Oneonta Senior High School and later attended and graduated from Broome Community College where he received his degree in engineering and proceeded to go to work for Former Singer Link Corporation Flight Simulation where he did work 38 years.                                                                             

Brian loved traveling and just being with his wonderful wife. He enjoyed working with numbers and this showed in a couple hobbies he did. He was also an avid golfer and participated in bowling. He watched football, baseball and continued to keep with all the current events via TV.                                     

Listening to him tell a joke or tell a story from his past was usually enlightening and definitely put a smile on anyone's face who could see him tell it. His unique sense of humor and quick wit pulled it off everytime.                                              

He loved cats but had an appreciation for all animals.                               

Surviving are 1 son and daughter in law, Rolland M. and Ruth Southern of MS. Two daughters and sons in law, Linda ( Roger) Walter of in PA, Lisa (Lee) Zechman of PA. Brian had 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, close friend of the family Adrian Papazian, special cousins Bruce and Doris Salisbury and two brothers David and Robert Southern.           

Family to receive friends at Thomas J. Shea Funeral Home, Inc., 137 Robinson St. Binghamton NY 13904 on Friday December 6, 2024 from 12 noon to 1 pm and family will officiate service from 1 pm to 2 pm.                                                                 

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Humane Society 126 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton NY 13903. 

             To all who knew and loved Brian..as he always said "So long for now".
