Cherryl Caruso Obituary

Our beloved Cherryl Jeanne Caruso, 78, passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at Wilson Hospital in Johnson City.  She will forever be loved and missed.
Cherryl was born on December 28, 1945, in Deposit, NY, to Wayne and Bernice (Marjory) Skellett.  She was a 1963 graduate of Binghamton North High School and went on to receive her degree in education at SUNY Cortland.  She taught history at Binghamton High School for 30 plus years where she left a lasting impact on all of her students and colleagues that worked with her.  Her dedication and compassion truly shaped many lives and created a supportive community within the school.
Cherryl lived life to the fullest, enjoying simple pleasures, chatting with close friends and family, reading, spending time outdoors (camping, gardening, beaches), doing her puzzles, and most of all spending time with her grandchildren.  She was a devoted fan to her children as well as her grandchildren attending countless number of events; including baseball, basketball, dance, field hockey, football, golf, gymnastics, soccer, softball, tennis, track, and music events.  With her loss it has left us all with a terrible void in our lives.  Remembering all she has taught us, the support she provided to us, and all the love given, along with our shared memories we will continue to honor her by living our lives to the fullest as we reflect the values she has instilled in us. She truly had an uncanny gift of bringing out the best in those around her, reaching them in a deep and positive way.
She is predeceased by mother, Marjory (Lobdell) Skellett and father, Wayne Skellett, sister Janie, many aunts and uncles, step-son Justin Caruso, and grandson Caleb L’Amoreaux.
She is survived by husband, James, her brother Steven, her sister Judy (Jerry), first husband Bob Klausner, father of Jen (Jeff) and Dan (Christin), step daughter Jaime (Jay), and many grandchildren; Allison, Dominic, Kaety, Tessa, Remi, Jackson, Richard, Elayna, Connor, and little Dom.
We would like to express many thanks to the ICU and Palliative Care teams at Wilson who worked around the clock to ensure she was comfortable and had the  very best of care.  The concern, thoughtfulness, and warm hearted friendship provided by friend and neighbor Tom McGabe goes above and beyond any expectations. Dear family friend Helen Foley provided prayer, strength, and reassurance to all during this difficult time.   Thank you.
All of those she loved and touched deeply please join us celebrating her life Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 12:00 pm at Greenwood Park, Pavilion 1 for a Celebration of Life.   In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ronald McDonald House or Caleb L’Amoreaux Scholarship Fund at Maine Endwell High School:  Shelly Goldstone, 750 Farm to market Road, Endwell, NY 13760.
