June 22, 1942 ~ May 16, 2021 (age 78) 78 Years Old

David Potts Obituary


But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. I Corinthians 2:9.
David Lee Potts entered eternal rest with his Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ on Sunday May 16. He was just shy of his 79th birthday on 6/22/21.
He was predeceased by his infant son, David John, his father & stepmother John & Edna Potts, his mother & stepfather Twila & Ted Hart, infant brother Jerry A. Potts.
He is survived by his wife Madelyn, son Timothy & wife Kelly, son Matthew & wife Lisa. Also surviving are his seven grandchildren in whom he delighted: Chelsea, Evan (Libby), Emily, Caleb, Megan, Zachary, and Joshua. Another source of great joy was his great-granddaughter, Kynslee Rose. Two sisters Crystal McLaughlin & Patty Boulton. Sister-in-law & brother-in-law Sherry & Donald Freer. Brother-in-law & sister-in-law Richard & Gail Wagner. Cousins, nieces, nephews & many special friends.
David served his country in the United States Navy from 1960-1964 during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a member of the Carpenters' Union Local 281 for his career path & after retirement worked part-time for Roadway Express.
He loved teaching Sunday School for many years to young children and adults. He held various church positions including being a deacon.
A true blessing in David's life was his Grandma Alice Potts who showed him the way of salvation at a tender age and because of this, shared the gospel with many.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 24, 2021 from 4pm until 6pm at the THOMAS J. SHEA FUNERAL HOME, INC, 137 Robinson Street, Binghamton, NY 13904.  A Funeral Service will be held at 11am on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Vestal, 117 Powderhouse Road, Vestal NY. Burial will follow with Military Honors in Chenango Valley Cemetery.
