Dawn A. Spencer (Dawnie) set course for her eternal life on 9/27/2024. She is predeceased by her husband Richard P. Spencer and her daughter Brenda Taylor. She is also predeceased by her 8 brothers and sisters Bud, Fred, Shirley, Maxine, Dori, Sharley, Phyllis, and Kay. She is survived by her sons Richard, Jeff (Mary), and Dale (Korin) Spencer. In addition, Kathy Spencer also had a special place in her heart. Her grandchildren and her great grandchildren were the light of her life.
Dawn graduated from Wilson Hospital Nursing School and spent time working at Elizabeth Church Manor and many years at Fairview Good Shepherd Home. Dawn was an old school nurse and many that were half her age would have trouble keeping up with her. Many patients over the years spent their final moments with Dawn. She was a very compassionate caregiver, and she made sure patients passed with dignity and love. The family is very appreciative of the staff of Fairview for caring for Dawn and putting up with her energy and her desire to help. Only those who have experienced this would understand. No one would ever question Dawn’s toughness or will. Her country roots of growing up in Downsville, NY ran deep in her. Her body carried her way beyond her years. In the recent weeks though, the look in her eyes said it was time to go. She had a strong faith and enjoyed attending Fairview United Methodist Church for most of her adult life. Dawn enjoyed the simple things in life and the family will miss, but certainly remember, all the family gatherings that she loved to put on with her husband, Dick. Dad never really did anything to help, but he was always up for a party and fun to have around!
A special “Thanks” to those who would stop to visit Dawn. She really enjoyed those times. Anne and Jessica Mazza. Thank You. Also, a special recognition to the staff at Norton’s small engine repair that would field a 2x daily call until her lawnmower got fixed.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at 9:00 with a service to follow at 10:00 at Fairview United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Glen Castle Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to Fairview United Methodist Church.
