Denise A. Edwards

Today we gather here to honor and celebrate the life of an amazing, loving, and strong woman Denise Arlene Edwards. 

Denise A. Edwards , 68 years young , passed away on June 23rd 2026 way too soon, but her impact on the world will live on far beyond that day. Born and raised in Harlem, New York. She was a popular, caring part of the community and made a major impact on everyone who crossed her path.

Denise was many things , first she was a daughter, then a loving sister, became a loving mother, always an amazing friend and counselor. She always had a kind word when it was needed. When life seemed unmanageable, Denise always knew exactly what to say to you to make you believe everything was gonna be all right. She was a strong straightforward, no-nonsense or beat around the Bush woman who always gave it to you straight. Anyone that ever met Denise will never forget her caring, special spirit. She was a fierce protector of her family always ready to run to their aide when needed.

Denise was always the Strength behind her family even when she was a young girl. If you messed with her family you had a problem. She carried that same fierce maternal instinct through life and with her own children, she was the glue that held this family together. 

While we mourn her passing. We also find comfort in knowing she is reunited with those who went before her. Her parents Joyce Donna Walker Strickland her father , Larry Conyers , her stepfather , Randolph Strickland her brother Larry Conyers Jr., her son, David Washington and her nieces Shawntay Strickland and Dominique Foxworth. Denise is survived by her Children Joseph Edwards, Lawerence Washington, Lamont Washington, Carlton Washington, Janei (Anthony) Edwards, and Jazmine Edwards, grandchildren Joseph Edwards Jr., Tristan Edwards, Nova Washington , David Washington  sisters Darlene Foxworth, Deborah Strickland and Deneen Strickland brothers Gerrod Conyers and Lance White. Along with a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews extended family and dear friends.

Denise showed her family how to be resilient and keep on moving forward no matter what storm came their way. Although she is no longer with us in body her spirit lives on and is with us. Supporting us as she always did.

Rest Denise your strength and love will carry us always..We love you forever
