Dennis R. Harder

Dennis R Harder, 76, of Conklin, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday July 26th. 2023. He was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife Maureen (O’Hara), grandson Dalton Harder, brother Thomas Harder, father-in-law and mother-in-law John and Mae O'Hara, father, and mother Ralph and Virginia Harder, brother-in-law Michael O'Hara and his best friend Bill Dumian. He is survived by his daughter Lori and (Keith) Travis, son John and (Alicia) Harder, his granddaughters Madison Travis, and Rena Harder, his grandsons Truman Harder, and Grady Conklin. A brother David and (Linda) Harder, sister-in-law Diane Harder, and very special nieces and nephews. His God Daughter Erika Harder, and his “3rd” child Michael Clapp. Dennis’s greatest joys were spending time with his family. He enjoyed his breakfast gang at Jane's Diner, visiting with family and friends as they swam in his pool, Friday lunches with Dwight, Thursday dinners with Larry and Donna, sitting on his front porch, his afternoon four-wheeler rides, feeding the birds and the deer. Dennis enjoyed watching a good western, and his four roses and ginger. Dennis enlisted in the United States Marines, was a veteran of the Vietnam War, was a graduate of Carson Long Military Academy, June 7th, 1967, and retired from the Town of Conklin Highway Department after 32 years. A Funeral service will be held Tuesday 12 pm from the THOMAS J. SHEA FUNERAL HOME INC., 137 Robinson St. Binghamton. Burial will be in Chenango Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until service time at 12 noon. Please in lieu of flowers donations in Dennis’s memory may be made to the Town of Conklin Fire Department 1034 Conklin Rd Conklin, NY 13748.  A celebration of Dennis's life will begin at 1:30 at Chenango Commons.
