Obituary

Donald Moran, age 85, of Binghamton, NY passed away on Tuesday July 13, 2021. Donald was predeceased by his parents Donald F & Elizabeth Moran and by his sister Margaret Moran. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Bonnie (Kane) Moran; his daughters Christine (Michael) Baker and Carrie Moran; his grandchildren Alex Moran, Nathan Baker, Christopher Moran & Megan Baker; his brother Larry (Linda) Moran; sister-in-law Sharon (John) VanKouwenberg; nephews Larry T Moran, James (Melloney) Moran along with their children & John VanKouwenberg; niece Vicki (Jay) Fleming; many cousins & friends. Don loved to ski and was a member of the Greek Peak Ski Patrol for over 40 years. He also enjoyed playing golf and volunteered for many years at both the BC Open & Dick’s Sporting Goods Open. Don was active in youth activities as a coach and as a basketball & soccer referee.  He even served as an Asst Girl Scout leader for his daughter’s troop.  Don was active in the community that he loved.  He was a life-long member of Saint Paul's Roman Catholic Church & long-term member and former president of the Hillcrest Rotary. He also served his community as a former Town of Dickinson Councilman and Supervisor and Broome County Legislator. Don loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and he will be greatly missed.  He also enjoyed watching sporting events and especially loved watching Ohio State football (Go Buckeyes!!), NY Giants football & NY Yankees baseball.  The family will receive friends on Thursday July 15th at Thomas J Shea Funeral Home from 5 – 7 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday July 16th at St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church at 9:30 AM. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Jude Children's Hospital or you may choose to donate blood through the Red Cross.
