Donna M. (Springer) Mooney

Donna Mooney, aged 77, of Binghamton, NY, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on July 30, 2024. Donna bravely fought a long battle with Alzheimer’s. 
Donna was predeceased by her beloved husband, John; her mother, Frances; her stepfather, David; her father, Donald; her sister, Cathy; and her brothers, Bob and Chuck.
She is survived by her daughter Theresa (Paul), her son Stephen (Scott), and her cherished granddaughter, Rachael. Donna is also survived by her sister Peg (Butch), her brothers Jim (Sherry) and David (Beth), friends Nancy Williams and Janet Barth; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Donna was very active in her church, participating in the altar and rosary society and the Bible group. She had a passion for baking, known especially for her delicious cinnamon bread and Christmas cookies. Donna loved shopping and embraced the excitement of Black Friday. Christmas was her favorite time of year, and she delighted in spoiling her family.
A devoted caregiver, Donna played a significant role in raising her siblings. At the age of 48, she achieved two important goals on her bucket list by earning her GED and obtaining her driver’s license. Donna cherished her cats, Spanky and Pooky, and after her children had grown, her cats became her beloved companions.
Her legacy of strength, love, and resilience will be remembered by all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held on August 8, 2024 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Binghamton. The family will receive friends and family from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a Catholic Mass.
