Edward J. Conroy, 92, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2022. He is predeceased by his parents, John and Catherine Conroy, brother Elwin Conroy and great-granddaughter, Adaline Lynz. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Doris; his children Stephen (Kathy) Conroy, Thomas (Susan) Conroy, Ron (Kathie) Conroy; grandchildren Jenna, Collin, Jake, Mayla; great-grandchild Aspen and one great-grandchild due in October. Ed served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Local 7 Laborers Union for over 70 years. He was a hard worker, enjoyed his time in the construction industry and especially loved working with concrete. His talent and attention to detail is evident in his children’s homes where his skilled workmanship can still be found, and his strong work ethic and commitment to quality was passed down. During his more than 30 years of retirement, Ed traveled extensively with Doris in their camper, and proudly shared stories of their adventures visiting all 50 states. He enjoyed keeping a meticulous and bountiful garden, and spending time with his family. Eddie had a great sense of humor, a remarkable memory and was always able to share a story, remember a name, or details of his travels that most would struggle to recall. Known by his grandchildren as “Mr. Fix It”, he was a man of perfection, everything was kept in place. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2022 from 4pm to 6pm at the THOMAS J. SHEA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 137 Robinson St. Binghamton. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 11am in the Chapel at Vestal Hills Memorial Park with burial to follow. Memorial Contributions can be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church, 72 Main Street, Binghamton NY 13905.
