Edwin J. (Butch) Buchinsky 90, passed away peacefully at home on October 27, 2024. Born in Johnson City, August 6,1934, he graduated from Binghamton Central High School, and served as a Military Policeman for the US Army. Butch married the love of his life, Nancy Ann Moriarity, and they were happily married for 68 years. He joined the Binghamton Police Department in 1966 and proudly served for 31 years. He fulfilled his dream of protecting his family and the residents of Binghamton. Butch was always found working at his children's sporting events, greeting everyone. He had an infectious laugh, a huge heart, and a hug that left you speechless. Butch was known as the smiling cop! He was the proud co-owner of the Video Library with three locations for many years.
God called our father home unexpectedly. We love you so much Dad, our hearts are broken. Watch over us while we figure out living without you. We promise to take care of your beautiful bride.
Butch was predeceased by his parents Julius and Eleanor Buchinsky, his brother Julius Robert, sister-in-law Suzie Buchinsky, sister-in-law MaryEllen Dacey, and brother-in law Henry Wasileski. Butch is survived by his wife Nancy Ann Buchinsky and fur baby Maggie, sisters Eleanor Wasileski Quinn, Darlene (Robert) Finch, and brother-in-law William Dacey. He is survived by his daughters SueEllen (Richard) Balcom, Julie (Jeffery) Schell, Pamela (Nickolas) Vitali, Jill (John) Adams, and his son E. Joseph (Constance) Buchinsky Jr., 15 grandchildren, and 31 great grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held from 11 - 1 on Friday, November 8, 2024 at St Paul’s Church, 282 Chenango St. Binghamton, NY, 13901. Funeral Mass will be held at 1 PM with Military Honors to follow. Arrangements are being made by Thomas J. Shea Funeral Home, Inc.
