Eleanor Conlon Obituary

Eleanor L. Conlon, 100, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 18, 2026, at Elizabeth Church Manor in Binghamton, New York.

The only daughter of Eleanor and Daniel Lyons, Eleanor grew up between Utica and Binghamton.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband of 57 years, John P. Conlon; her beloved son, Tom Conlon; and her brothers, Neil; John (Anne); Edwin (Mary); and Francis Lyons.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Dale Tewksbury; daughter-in-law, Vivian Conlon; grandchildren, Michael Whittemore (Jocelyn), Terry (Brianna), and Rae Conlon; great-granddaughters, Sydney Pabst and Layla Whittemore; a great-grandson on the way; and her dearest nieces and nephews.

Eleanor lived a modest life full of love. With her mother passing away when she was only 13, she assumed the role of matriarch—a title she carried throughout her life, providing warmth and laughter to her entire family and countless friends.

Eleanor lived most of her life in Sunrise Terrace in Binghamton, always keeping the mood light with a sharp, wry sense of humor. She loved keeping up with the news, discussing politics, and watching the New York Yankees.

Her family would like to thank the exceptional aides and nurses at St. Louise and Elizabeth Church Manor, who became like family to her in the final years of her life.

Family will receive friends at St. Patrick’s Church in Binghamton on Friday, March 27, beginning at 10 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Johnson City, directly following the Mass, with a reception to follow.  The Funeral Mass will be live streamed at www.sta-sp.org.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to be made to the Cancer Research Institute.
