Ernest S. Mauro

        Ernest Salvatore Mauro, 87, went to be with the Lord on July 29, 2022. He is predeceased by his parents Ernest L. and Barbara M. Mauro (Giovannini); brother-in-law and sister Bud and Delores M. Hankins (Mauro).  
He is survived by wife Luigia M. Mauro (Capozzi), sons Ernest A. and girlfriend Cheryl of Binghamton, NY, Michael T. and Jennifer Mauro of Newington, CT; grandchildren Brianna C. Mauro and fiancé Bryan Langston of League City, TX, Michael T. Mauro Jr. and Fiancé Kelsey Ryan of Chicago, IL, Anthony E. Mauro and his wife Hannah of Endicott, NY, Nicolas A. Mauro and Shelby Ruppenthal of Albany, NY, Emalie R. Freitas and Ryan Grant of Woodbridge, VA and Tia M. Mauro of Hershey, PA; great grandchildren Luciana and Declan Langston of League City, TX. Ernest is also survived by the closest of Family Ezio Capozzi of Plainville, CT, Filomena Capozzi of Binghamton, NY, Sid and Annemarie Sacco of Binghamton, NY, many brothers and sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.  He was also blessed with many friends.  Ernest was an avid hunter and fisherman; he was the youngest member of the Red Vest Gun Club in Oxford, NY.  He also was a Volunteer at St. Mary’s of the Assumption Church for various events including the annual bazaar.  He was known for his hard work, willingness to help anyone and especially his dedication to family and friends.   He was a 20-year Veteran of the Army National Guard where he was a retired Captain. 
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 5, 2022 at St. Mary of the Assumption Church from 8:30am to 9:30am.  A Funeral Mass will follow at 9:30am.  Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery.  Ernest adored his grand dogs Gracie, Fynn and Bentley whom are all rescues.  In lieu of flowers all donations will be distributed to the organizations they were rescued from.
