Eugenia C. (Floros) VanKeuren

 Eugenia (Genie) C. VanKeuren, 87, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2026. 
She lived in Binghamton, NY most of her life, then spent 20 years in Englewood, FL after retiring.  She is survived by her children: Heather VanKeuren, Karen (Brian) Russell, and her grandchildren: Gavin (fiancé Meghan Antonetti) Russell, Jacob Russell, many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her husband: Ralph H. VanKeuren, her parents: Christopher and Aphrodite Floros, and sister, Maria Lemionades.

Genie graduated from Binghamton High School and Syracuse University. She loved her time in college, was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta sorority, and continued to be an avid supporter of the university throughout her life. She was very proud of her Greek heritage and was very active at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Vestal, NY and at Saint Barbara Greek Orthodox Church in Sarasota, FL.
Genie and Ralph were married for 32 years.  They made their home in Port Dickinson with their daughters. Genie was able to stay home with her children until they started school.  She worked for the Chenango Valley School District as the truant officer for 20 years.      
One of her greatest joys was being a grandmother.  She loved spending time with her grandsons.  Throughout their lives, Genie spent a few months each year in Corning to spend time with them, celebrating birthdays and holidays.  They also visited her in Florida, making memories, playing at the beach and going to Disney World.
She enjoyed music, (Tony Bennett was one of her favorites), reading, watching movies, playing cards, bingo and spending time with friends and family.  
A Service will be held at 12Noon on Friday, February 6, 2026 at Thomas J. Shea Funeral Home, Inc., 137 Robinson Street, Binghamton, NY.   The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 10am to the time of the service at 12Noon.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in her memory.
