Evan B. Hanzalik, 22, passed away unexpectedly on March 23, 2024 due to a pulmonary embolism.
He is predeceased by his great grandfather Albert May; great grandmother Rosemary Cole; grandfather Douglas Hanzalik. He is survived by his father Shaun Hanzalik (Rachael); mother Kimberly Ziska (Matthew Ziska); brothers Kyle, Nathan, Owen; sisters Alayna, Helena; step siblings Matthew and Sonya Ziska-Ortega; grandparents Bryon and Sherry Cole, Barbara and Craig Holmes, Robert and Barbara Ziska; his great grandmother Ann Moschak; aunts and uncles Bryon Cole (Christina), Godfather Stephen Cole (Kelly), Godmother Rebecca Barker (Joseph), Ryan Hanzalik (Kayla), Adrienne Putrino (Michael), Amy Folli (Raymond), Daniel Ziska, Paul Ziska (Marieke); cousins Caiden and Cameron Cole, Ceceila Cole, Anthony and Andrew Barker, Tanner Hanzalik, Paige, Madison and Dante Putrino, Rylan, Cameron and Charlotte Folli, Henry, Sofie, Wade and Emmett Ziska; his loving girlfriend Mia Stastny and his loyal k-9 companion Zoey.
Evan graduated from Union Endicott Highschool in 2020. He attended Broome Community College. Evan was an avid golfer and a volunteer firefighter for the Campville Fire Department. He loved the city of Boston, the Boston Celtics, New York Jets, New York Yankees, and the Duke Blue Devil’s basketball team. He was a manager at Nirchi’s in Vestal, NY. Evan enjoyed spending time with his family and friends along with taking his dog Zoey to the dog park. He was hardworking and strong willed. He was proud of his family’s heritage, loved his country, was passionate and vocal about his political views and always had to have the last word. He will be truly missed by his family and friends.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11am on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at the Church of the Holy Family, 3600 Phyllis St. Endwell NY 13760. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday at the church from 4pm to 6pm.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Evan's memory to Mercy House of the Southern Tier or Campville Fire Department.
Our family would like to give a special thank you to the New York State Police, Campville Fire Department and other first responders that responded and assisted with Evan’s medical emergency.
