Frank Wyszomirski Obituary

Mr. Frank Gregory Wyszomirski, age 72 of Binghamton, NY went to eternal peace on Tuesday May 19,2026 following a long and valiant struggle with a failing body.

He was the son of the late Frank G. Wyszomirski and the late Dorothea Dybas Wyszomirski.  Frank was born in Amsterdam, NY on November 5, 1953 and was also known as Frankie or Franke.  After attending the Saint Stanislaus Elementary School, then went on to graduate from the Wilbur H Lynch High School in 1971.  He also undertook studies at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY.  He then explored a career in Broadway as a rehearsal pianist and performance accompanist for a few years.  Thereafter he worked in a variety of industries: in public administration in Albany, NY; in hotel administration (1980-1991) in Binghamton and Vestal, NY; and a number of positions concerning medical claims at Health Now (Blue-Cross and Blue Shield) (1991- 2008) in Binghamton, NY.  At HealthNow  Frank received a number of awards and promotions.  He also became a member of the AAPC (American  Academy of Professional Coders). He retired in 2008.

Over the course of his life and work, the pillar of his interest and passion was music. He was born with musical talents that emerged at the young age of 4.  He could play almost anything he heard without lessons or a score.  He took private piano lessons while in elementary school.  In High School he was the pianist and arranger for Drama Club productions in both the school and at summer musical performances.  He played the organ for a church in Rotterdam, NY.  He took gigs at parties and other events.  He amassed an extensive collection of recordings of virtually every Broadway musical created in the 20th century up to the present. He was particularly interested in the work of Steven Sondheim.  He expanded his knowledge about the genre with voracious reading, especially about musical history and criticism, and built an impressive library.  He expanded his interests to opera and to movies with a particular interest in Alfred Hitchcock and film noir.  He often travelled to Broadway, and other performance locations such as Lincoln Center (in NYC) and the JFK Center (in Washington), the Shaw Festival (in Ontario, Canada); The Saratoga Performing Arts Center; and the Glimmerglass Opera Festival (in Cooperstown, NY).  He immersed himself in creativity, music, and theater.

Frank is survived by his sister, Margaret J. Wyszomirski, who was his loving caretaker for the past two years.  She also shared many of Frank’s interests and enjoyed learning more about her brother’s enthusiasms.   He is also survived by his Aunt, MaryAnn Dybas of Van Nuys, CA, and cousins Debbie Gaudy and Richie Dybas of Van Nuys, CA; cousins Louie Dybas Jr of Amsterdam, NY, Dennis Rogers of Amsterdam, NY,  Dolly Rogers O’Brien of Florida and James Luksis of Wappengers Falls,  NY, as well as other cousins and friends.  He had the sweetest smile, a sharp and curious mind, and maintained his sense of humor. He will be dearly missed and will always in our hearts.

The family is grateful to the staff at Willow Point Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for the compassionate caring, support, and attention that helped Frank through very difficult days. They made him feel he was among friends and was particularly thankful to Sonja, Karen, and Allyce.

At Frank's request there will be no formal services.
