Obituary

Freddie P. Maliwacki Sr. 84, formally from Binghamton passed away on March 29, 2022 to be reunited with the love of his life, his beloved wife Deona who passed away in 2002 taking part of his heart with her.  He was born in Johnson City on October 31, 1937. He was predeceased by his parents Amy and Paul Maliwacki; brother Conrad Maliwacki and daughter Diana.  He is survived by his loving son and best friend Freddie Jr. (fiancé Wendy Delvillano); grandchildren Ashley Maliwacki (who was like another daughter to him), Sarah (Dan) Bidwell, Binghamton, Lucas (Alexandra ) Maliwacki, Bradenton, FL and brother Ron (Cathy) Maliwacki, Vestal; along with several great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He worked at Endicott Johnson (EJ), Fairbank Valve and lastly Canironl Iron Works.  Freddie met his wife Deona on a blind date while working at EJs. They were married in1957 and enjoyed 44 yrs of wedded bliss.  They loved doing everything together from getting groceries to camping, traveling, numerous vacations and lots and lots of dancing and mostly sitting on deck watching wildlife with a cup of coffee.  Freddie was a true outdoorsman and enjoyed it with his son Freddie Jr. who was his hunting partner and best friend.  He would sit countless hours in the woods along deer trails waiting for the big buck to wander by.  He loved family time especially having get togethers, celebrating holidays and campfire behind the house.  Sometimes he would bring his tent and stay for weeks at a time.  He also liked sitting in the sunroom by the fireplace during winter and watching deer, turkey, and other wildlife along with watching old westerns on TV.  All these times made Freddie’s Life Complete.  He was the best husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and uncle you could ask for.  Freddie has a heart of gold and will be missed by those who knew and loved him.  Special thanks to Wendy for being by his side and ensuring he received the best possible care as his health declined.

Also, a special thanks to the staff at Delhi Rehab and Nursing Center for making Freddie’s life comfortable in his final days.  At Freddie’s request there will be no services.  A Celebration of Life will be scheduled later.
