Gregory J. Babicek

With a deep sense of sorrow and loss, our family announces the passing of our brother, uncle, friend Gregory J. Babicek on Monday, May 6, 2024 at the age of 61.   

Greg was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Rose Babicek, grandparents John and Maria (Juriga) Matson and Joseph and Ann Babicek, his brother Adrian Babicek and niece Erin Babicek, as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He will be forever remembered by his brothers Al (Coleen) and Tim (Karen) as well as his nieces and nephews Tracie (Tom), Shelly (Dave), Jason (Melissa) and Josh (Cierra), as well as his great nieces and nephews.  Over the past several years, Greg developed a special bond with his friend Kathaleen Page and her extended family. They were very instrumental in his life and supported him throughout his good times and his tough medical issues. Greg’s family is forever grateful for all their love and support they provided in his life.  

Greg worked at the Binghamton Box Company, Weitzman of Binghamton and Bates Troy. He is remembered as a hard worker. He enjoyed the city life, being close to the amenities and being able to ride his bike to access any of his needs. He enjoyed feeding the ducks and sitting out with friends enjoying the outdoors. Greg was a long-time member of the Binghamton Shad Club and enjoyed many weekends spending time there. He was a very caring person and would give the shirt off his back if you needed it. He enjoyed watching football and NASCAR. His nieces and nephews remember him for his kindness, helping his mom when she was watching them, making them breakfast. Greg would do anything for you when asked and able. He had a big heart.

May God bless you Greg and give you a new home in heaven. You will be missed by all who knew and loved you. There will be no service at this time but a Celebration of life will be held at a later date, which his family knows would please Greg because he always enjoyed a good party.
