Hank Nanni, 95, died peacefully at home on June 30, 2021. He is predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Pasqualina (Pat); son, Anthony; parents, Antonio and Anna Nanni; brother Peter (Yolanda) Nanni, sister, Lena Nanni. Left to cherish his memory is his partner of 20 years, Carole Doolittle; sons Hank (Jennifer Keiser) Nanni, and John (Christine) Nanni; daughters Shelly (John) O’Neill, and Ann (Bob) Lockett; grandchildren Tom (Kara) Nanni, Allison and Adam Nanni, Brian O’Neill, Sarah (Mike) Tesar, John Michael O’Neill, Emma O’Neill, Richelle (Nicco) Stento, Nicole (Dave) Lockett; great grandchildren Grace, Sophia, and Tommy Nanni, Benjamin and Tristan O’Neill, Norah and Leah Tesar, soon to arrive, Baby girl Stento; sisters-in-law Catherine Testani and Rose (Bob) Fairbrother; cousin Mike D’Amigo; and many loved nephews and nieces.
Hank worked at IBM Endicott for over 30 years. He was also employed at Ansco, Link, and Canada Dry. Hank served in the US Maritime Service and Merchant Marines during WWII. He coached Little League, Babe Ruth, and American Legion baseball for many years. Since 1984 was very active in supervising sports programs for the Binghamton Parks and Recreation Dept. He was a loyal fan of the NY Yankees, NY Giants, Boston Celtics, Notre Dame football, and North Carolina basketball.
Hank volunteered at Southern Tier AIDS Program, Lourdes Hospital, American Cancer Society, and St. Mary Assumption Church. He was an active member of Compassionate Friends for Bereaved Parents. A special thank you to Hank’s grandson, John Michael O’Neill, who lovingly cared for Hank in his final years. Also, a special thank you to four wonderful women, Terry, Tammy, Lidia, Shannon, and Lourdes Hospice. The care of this team allowed Hank to live in his home of 85 years until his death. Hank was loving, generous, and active in his community and family. He will be missed by his family and many whom he touched.
Calling hours will be held on July 7, 2021 from 4 until 7pm at the THOMAS J. SHEA FUNERAL HOME INC. 137 Robinson St. Binghamton, NY 13904. A Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30am on Thursday July 8, 2021 at St. Mary of the Assumption Church. Burial with full military honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are with Albert J.
