Jacques Doyle Obituary

Jacques K. Doyle Sr., 95, went to be with the Lord March 6, 2023 after a long but very private battle with metastatic prostate cancer. Jacques is predeceased by his wife, June N. Doyle and son, Thomas Doyle. He is survived by his children, Carolyn Doyle-Binghamton NY, Michael Doyle (Lisa) Syracuse NY, Jacques Jr. (Jay) Doyle-Williamsburg VA, Marylouise Doyle (Randy Rollo) Binghamton NY, Patrick Doyle-Binghamton NY. His grandchildren, Ashley Doyle, Nicholas (Nick) Doyle and Leslee Doyle. Jacques will be remembered for many things most certainly his great wit, sense of humor and fondness for socializing, he was often the light in the room. Jacques, first and foremost, was a dad who was ever so proud of all six of his children. Growing up in the Doyle home was full of many fond memories and laughter. Jacques was an avid reader and loved poetry and he would enlighten anyone with excerpts of his latest read book or recite a poem he knew from memory. Jacques was a member and regular attendee with his family at Saint Joseph’s in Port Crane and later Saint Patrick’s in Binghamton. After retirement Jacques lived an adventurous and active life; trips, antiquing and garage sales with his children. Rotary, golfing, poker games with old friends, traveling to Ireland, season tickets to local hockey, many events and performances at the Anderson Center and Broome County Forum Theatre. He was independent and never kept idle, which was exactly what he wanted. His presence will be missed by many, and we celebrate his long, fulfilling, and happy life. Jacques served in the Korean War 1950-1952, where he was a Sergeant in the Army and was honorably discharged after a battlefield injury. Jacques was proud of his service, receiving the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, and a Purple Heart for his commitment to our country. He was able to travel to Washington DC with fellow veterans on the Honor Flight in 2019 and remained a lifetime active member of the American Legion. Jacques attended Broome Community College on the GI bill and earned a degree in electrical engineering where he then worked in the electronics field as a salesman retiring from that industry. Jacques has reached his destination and those who knew him know he enjoyed much happiness along the way and was extremely thankful for his long journey. The Doyle children would like to thank the Lourdes Hospice Team and the entire staff and volunteers at Mercy House who took such good care of their father and the family. Special appreciation to Dr. John W. Miller for his commitment and treatment during the first 20 years of this disease and palliative care once it was necessary. Last but certainly not least, a thank you to all friends and family for their support through what was a profoundly difficult time. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 from 4pm to 6pm at the THOMAS J. SHEA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 137 Robinson St. Binghamton. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11am on Thursday at St. Patrick's Church in Binghamton. Burial will follow with Military Honors at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers we kindly ask people to donate in memory of Jacques Doyle to Mercy House, where Jacques spent his final days in peace and comfort.
