James F. Rotella Jr. was welcomed into heaven on March 23rd at the age of 72 following a valiant 13-year battle with cancer. James was predeceased by his parents James and Josephine, brother-in-law William Bryan, his aunts Frances Milasi, Teresa Mastro, Jenny Rotella, Jenny Hodel, Connie Peck, Angelina Gialanella, Mary Jane Pastor, Mary and Marie Vallone; uncles Tony, Frank and Jake Vallone, Sam and Michael Rotella, Sebastian Fiacco Sr. and Joseph Milasi; cousins Sebastian Fiacco Jr., Teresa and Jon Reiser, Sam Rotella Jr., Peter Rotella, Peter Mastro, Angie Jones, Carol Fancher and Linda Kangur.
James is survived by his beloved fiancé Karen Eckler, his devoted sons Nicholas, Dominic and Vincent Rotella, as well as his terrific sister Donna Rotella Bryan; nephews Jonathan (Alysa) and Jordan (Joanna) Rotella as well as his aunts Mary Fiacco and Katherine Vallone; great nieces Oliviana and Ava and great nephews Roman and Enzo; cousins Nancy and Roger Brooks, Angie Donovan, Paul Fiacco, Maria Dellos, Anne Jameson, Tony, Robert, James and Ross Vallone, Elizabeth Pattengil, Gesele Koehler, Katherine Centemore, Shirley and Robert Peck, Joseph Rotella, Diane Cline, Mary Jones, Anne Marie Gialanella and Danita Fiacco.
Jim grew up on Susquehanna St. where he made many lifelong friends and treasured memories. He was a graduate of Central High School and Le Moyne College. After college he worked at General Electric and Lockheed Martin. Jim cherished the awards he received during his career as a Project Manager. Jim began working at the age of 10, working alongside his father selling fruit at the family Produce business. Jim loved fishing and camping with his sons as well as hosting family and friends at Deer Lake and the family home. Jim was an avid fan of the NY Yankees and Syracuse Orangemen, regularly attending games with his sons and Fiancé Karen. Jim met the love of his life, Karen Eckler in 2015. Karen’s love, compassion and patience helped Jim triumph though the toughest times. Karen’s hugs and friendly smile each morning and night warmed his heart.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 29th at 9:00 AM, St Mary of the Assumption Church, Court Street, Binghamton, N.Y. with Mass to follow 10:00 AM. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery following mass.
