James Alvin Saxby, known to his friends as Jim, 74, passed away in his home in March 2026.
He was born on October 2, 1951 to June and Hannah Saxby, who have preceded him in death. He is survived by his two daughters - Shana Ladwig and her three children; Jeanna Peters (son-in-law Andrew) and their three children; his four brothers - Ivan Jay Saxby and his extended family; David Saxby (sister-in-law Cheryl) and his extended family; Tom Saxby (sister-in-law Star) and his extended family; and John Saxby; his sister Linda and her extended family; and his stepmother Carol Saxby.
A quietly talented man, he was adept at painting, sketching, carving, whittling, as well as playing the guitar, harmonic, piano, and singing. Above all he loved to play his guitar. Up until the end he spent most of his day strumming the chords of familiar tunes.
He retired from Endicott Precision, where he worked as a welder, estimator, and inspector. He enjoyed sharing his artistic talents with his fellow employees by contributing amusing hand drawn comics to the company’s newsletter.
Many friends and family have been the recipients of wood carvings ranging from eagles to bears, coloring books, sketches; and have listened to his music, as he played in multiple bands over the years.
He was a multifaceted man who loved nature, music, and art, but above all he loved his family. His talent and humor will be missed.
