Janet L. (Grady) Calisi

Janet L. Calisi passed away on August 20th, 2024 following a brief illness.  Jan was born in Versailles, Illinois on October 20, 1936 to Norman and Bernice Grady. She graduated from Nursing School at St John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL in 1957. She entered the United States Air Force in 1959 where she met John Calisi. They were married June 25th 1966 at Travis Airforce Base in California. Jan served during the Vietnam Conflict as a psychiatrist nurse for soldiers leaving the country. She retired in 1969 as a Captain. When John’s service ended the family moved to Kirkwood, NY where Jan worked for United Health Services at Binghamton General Hospital in psychiatry. 

Jan is survived by her sons, Stephen (Jennifer) and Andrew (Deborah) and her grandchildren, Morgan, Rachael, Emma, Daniel, Shawn and Stephen . She was a member of the Elks Lodge and St. Mary’s of Kirkwood.
 
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2024 from 4pm to 6pm at the THOMAS J. SHEA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 137 Robinson St. Binghamton.  A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at 10am on Friday at St. Mary’s Church in Kirkwood.   Burial will follow with military honors in Calvary Cemetery.
