Jay V. Casper, Sr. born in Binghamton NY October 28, 1940 passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 2, 2025.
He is predeceased by his father Vincent Casper; mother and step-father Joan and George Kendrot and his grandson Devin Patrick Knight.
Jay is survived by his loving wife Diane M. Casper; daughter Deborah (Mike) Knight; sons Jay Casper, Jr. (Jennifer Vaughn), Craig (Nicole) Casper; grandchildren Michael (Rebecca) Knight Jr., Connor Knight, Patrick Knight, Casey Knight, Joseph Casper, Ryan Johnstone, Julia Johnstone, Audrey (Matthew)Blake, Daniel Casper, Jack Casper; sister and brother-in-law Kay and Ronald Smith; as well as countless family, friends and neighbors.
Jay was a 1958 graduate of Binghamton North High School; graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with an Electrical Engineering Degree and a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Syracuse University. He worked for 35 years for IBM and Lockheed Martin and after retirement as a volunteer tax preparer for AARP for 25 years.
He had a great love for baseball as a player and lifelong Yankee’s Fan; an avid golfer he enjoyed numerous decades of golf trips with his lifelong friends.
He was devoted to his family and tremendously proud of his grandchildren and cherished his family vacations in Cape May for 48 years.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Reardon family, Lange family, many neighbors and friends, and the many gifted healthcare workers at Wilson Hospital, Elizabeth Church Manor and Mercy House of the Southern Tier for their compassionate care.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 6, 2025 from 4pm to 7pm at the Thomas J. Shea Funeral Home, Inc., 137 Robinson St. Binghamton. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at St. Vincent de Paul/Blessed Sacrament Church in Vestal. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions can be made in Jay's memory to Mercy House of the Southern Tier, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry.
