Our mother, Jean E. (Parsons) Barker peacefully passed away on July 13th, at the age of 93. She was predeceased by her husband, Byron S. Barker; son, Barry E. Barker and daughter-in-law, Donna A. Barker. She is survived by her loving children; Linda Barker, Michael Barker, Brian Barker, Rick (Shelley) Barker, Tim Barker, Patty Juriga and daughter-in-law Marsha Barker. She was the proud grandmother of 18 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Mom was a very special woman who was loved by all who knew her including the many patrons at State Bowling Center where she worked every Saturday behind the counter and with the youth bowlers for many years. In addition to being an avid bowler, she was a line dancer/teacher and a passionate bingo player. She had many cherished lifelong friends. She spent time traveling the country with her beloved husband in their RV, spending many winters in sunny Florida. Whenever Mom had time, she found her way to a casino, even into her 90s. Luck may have been on her side when she was betting, but we were the lucky ones to be loved by her for so many years.
A special thank you to United Methodist Homes Hilltop Assisted Living staff and Elizabeth Church Manor staff for taking care of our Mom with such love and devotion. We are eternally grateful.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 17, 2023 from 4pm to 6pm at the THOMAS J. SHEA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 137 Robinson St. Binghamton. Funeral Services will be private. Entombment will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park.
