Joan (Chanecka) Evans

Joan Chanecka Evans, age 88 of Wilmington, North Carolina peacefully passed away in her sleep on February 28, 2025.  She was born on July 28, 1936 in Binghamton, New York to Paul and Helen Chanecka. 
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Evans; sisters and brothers-in-law: Helene and Edward Marhefka and Paulette and James Nowak; brothers and sister-in-law Richard and Margaret Chanecka and Robert Chanecka.  
Joan is survived by her daughters: Theresa Bourque and fiancée Frank Guest, Lynda Sardella, and Kieron and husband William O’Mara;  seven grandsons: Michael and wife Jennifer Sardella, Paul and wife Alexis Sardella, Sean and wife Stephanie O’Mara, Aaron Bourque, Adam Bourque and wife Maylin Santiago, Casey O’Mara and Brian O’Mara; great-grandchildren Luca, Christian, Luna and Noah; sister and brother-in-law Jean and Edward Coolbaugh; plus “bonus” daughters: Audrey Matias and Colette Miller; also many cousins, nieces, nephews & dear friends

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
