Joan Russo Obituary

Joan Marie Russo, age 77, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2021 in Arlington, Texas. She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Marie Haynak, and her brother, Frank Haynak. She is survived by her husband and soulmate of 56 years, Anthony Russo; her children, Collette Russo and Anthony (Shelli) Russo; her granddaughters Reganne, Logan and Eva Russo; and many other special family members and friends.

Joan was born in Binghamton, New York on October 10, 1944. She graduated from Saint Paul’s High School in 1962. Upon graduation, she attended classes at Broome Community College while working at The Binghamton Press. The Binghamton Press was where she met her husband, Tony, and they married in 1965.  Joan (‘Wifey’) and Tony shared a love story like no other. Their marriage was based not only on love, but also partnership, respect and devotion to each other. They truly enjoyed each other’s company and always had so much fun together. Watching them be together and love each other was a true inspiration to all who had the privilege to do so.  Joan was also an amazing mother and grandmother. She cherished her children and grandchildren and was so very proud of them. She loved big, with all her heart, and you always felt that affection and love in her presence. There was nothing she wouldn’t do for her family.  She was an incredible cook and talented artist. She enjoyed golfing, entertaining family and friends, and could often be found enjoying a glass of champagne or scotch on the rocks by the pool. Joan was always the life of the party and her humor and spirit left a memorable impression wherever she went. She was known to enjoy getting into a little ‘trouble’ every now and again. Joan was a strong woman and a proud breast cancer survivor. She lived life to the fullest and lived that life on her terms. We will be having a celebration of her life at a date and time to be announced in the future. Please help us celebrate her now by raising a glass and toasting in her honor.
