Joan A. Cortese Obituary

Joan Alice (Pavlick) Cortese, 89 of Binghamton, NY, went to be with the Lord after a long illness on November 30, 2020.
She is predeceased by her husband Nathan N. Cortese, daughter Stacy Cortese Williams, parents William Pavlick and Josephine Russik Pavlick, and brother Richard Pavlick.
Joan is survived by her brothers David Pavlick and William Pavlick (Sharon), children Mary Lou Cannon (Jack), Joseph Cortese (Molly), Stephen Cortese (Deb), Christopher Cortese (Colleen), Jennifer Cortese-McPeak, and her son-in-law John Williams (Patty). She is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Joan was a resident at Good Shepherd Village in Endwell for the past four years.  We wish to thank the staff for taking wonderful care of our mother.  Joan devoted her life to being a wife to Nate and raising her family of six children whom she loved so much.  She loved to sing and had a love of music and musical theater and performed for many years with the St. Mary Assumption Players and the Rockbottom Players.  She loved her Catholic faith and was a member of St. Mary and Paul Parish.  Joan was active with many community organizations over the years including serving as a past board member of Mom’s House of Johnson City, a past chairperson for the NYS Right to Life Committee and volunteering with the Lourdes Auxiliary.
We regret that due to the Covid-19 pandemic, funeral services will be immediately family only and will be held at the THOMAS J. SHEA FUNERAL HOME INC.  Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery alongside her beloved husband Nate and daughter Stacy.
Expressions of sympathy may be mailed to the Cortese Family in care of THOMAS J. SHEA FUNERAL HOME INC., 137 Robinson Street, Binghamton, NY 13904.
Donations in remembrance of Joan may be made to Mom’s House of Johnson City at momshouseny.org or to St. Mary of the Assumption Church at www.marypaul.org
