John M Goodspeed

John Michael Goodspeed, 61, of Binghamton, died February 1, 2021 after a long, hard fought battle with Huntingtons Disease.  He now joins in heaven his mother and father, Morris and Rosemary (King) Goodspeed, and his sisters, Mary and Sharon Goodspeed. He is survived by his sisters, Diane and Mike Bobal and Maureen Maerkl.  He was the funny Uncle to Michael and Chelsea Bobal, Matthew and Carly Bobal, Jillian Bobal, Dylan (Kelsey) Maerkl and Joseph Maerkl, and an adoring Great Uncle to Sophia, Josephine, Maximilian, Louis Bobal and Rori Maerkl.  He is also survived by his loving Stepmother, Emily Goodspeed, and Stepbrothers, Enrique, Joseph, and Jarrod Jaen.
   John worked for several years as a truck driver for Pepsi before his illness.  He enjoyed the Yankees, Giants, Rangers, a good cigar, playing hockey, and his dogs. John was lucky enough to have some wonderful friends, whose love and support are immeasurable: Sal LaMantia, Joseph Yanuzzi, Tim Allen, Donna Fletcher, Cheryl Elston, Pastor Art Pavelski and the SCCHS class of '78.  John spent his last several years living at Vestal Park Nursing Center, to whom we are forever grateful for their loving care.  A special thanks to Kim Rigoli, Lorraine Casterton, and Renee Beadle who were John's angels while he was there.
   There will be calling hours Monday, February 8, from 4-6pm at the THOMAS J. SHEA FUNERAL HOME INC., 137 Robinson St, Binghamton, and a Funeral Mass at St Mary of the Assumption, 192 Court St, Binghamton on Tuesday February 9, at 9:30 am. The mass will be live streamed, sheafuneralhome.com under John's obituary.
