John (Jack) Fiorenza, Sr. 92, of Binghamton, NY, passed away on February 14th, 2026. He was recently predeceased by his wife, Dorothy and daughter Diane Timperlake. John is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Michael Musshafen, son-in-law Tim Timperlake, daughter and son-in-law Karen and Ron Docalavich Jr. and son and daughter-in-law, John Jr. and Stephanie Fiorenza. He had eight grandchildren, Matthew and Mason Musshafen, Aaron Timperlake, Ron Jr., Adam and Benton Docalavich, Evan and Emily Fiorenza, and also 7 great grandchildren. John grew up in Berwick, PA.
He joined the US Air Force after graduating high school and served his country in Korea. Upon leaving the Air Force, he married his wife, went to college and settled in the Binghamton area. Teaching became his career and he worked for the Union Endicott School District for nearly 30 years. He had great pride in his teaching, earning masters degrees in several subject areas. He was instrumental in developing a reading lab at the high school level in the early 1970s. He encouraged others with his love for reading and often had a book in his hands over the years. Jack loved small game hunting, especially rabbit hunting with his many trusty beagles as well as trout fishing, which were some of his favorite pastimes. He also could be found in his garage working on his greatest passion, Volkswagens. His ability to rebuild an engine in a short time was truly amazing. He made many friends due to his mechanical expertise. Over the years, John displayed a love for his environment through conservation efforts and did not hesitate to write to elected officials regarding issues that impacted the environment in the Broome County area.
Due to health issues, he moved to the Oxford Veterans Home 3 1/2 years ago. The nurses and staff there became a part of his family. They went above and beyond to make sure he had everything he needed. His family is grateful for their professionalism and genuine love they shared with him.
Upon John's request, there will be no calling hours. Donations in his memory may be made to Broome County Meals on Wheels, C.H.O.W., or a charity of your choice.
