John W. Kelsey Obituary

John William Kelsey, 67, of Ouaquaga, NY passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 18th, 2021.  He was born on October 12th, 1953 in Deposit, NY to the late Earl and Shirley (Wheeler) Kelsey.
John is survived by his children Amanda & Luke, step-children Patrick, Steven and Roger Gilllihan, wife Defilia, siblings, Sherry Kelsey-Braungard, Robert Kelsey, Ann & Calvin Kelsey-Vining, James Kelsey and Mark & Bobbie Jo Kelsey-Creamer, nieces and nephews, Jason, Tania, Tina & Lisa Braungard Chris Vining, April Vining-Dixon, Alex & Jonathon Creamer and many great-nieces and nephews, foster children, dear friends and his beloved dog Bubby.
John worked for Tri City Highway Products for several years, ran a family sawmill with his Brother-in-law, Mark and took care of foster children with his wife in their home. He was good at anything he put his mind to including electrical work, carpentry, mechanical repairs. He had a goofy personality and was quite stubborn at times. He was an accomplished guitar player and played with the acclaimed local band “Abbott Foreman” and most recently with his family band “Habit Formin'”.  His love for music has been an inspiration to many and will live on in the lives and hearts of his family and friends forever.
John will be cremated, and an informal service/celebration will be held at the Kelsey residence in Ouaquaga, NY on a date to be announced later this Summer.
