Joseph M. LaCourt

Joseph Michael LaCourt, aged 31, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 14, 2026. He is survived by his parents, Mary and Bob LaCourt, his brother John (Kelsey), his sister Katie (Nic), his nephew and nieces Colden, Marcy, and Bailey, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Joe graduated from Windsor High School, FLCC, and SUNY Oneonta. He was employed by Delaware County Soil and Water as well as Cortland Catholic Charities where he worked in homeless outreach. We are very proud of the work he did there and his desire to help those less fortunate than himself.

Joe had a great passion for spending time in nature and in music. He grew up playing in the woods near his house with his lifelong band of neighborhood brothers. As an adult, he spent many happy hours riding his bike, paddling on the water, and simply taking walks in the woods. If you walked in the woods with Joe he could tell you the name of every tree, plant, or flower you came across. He also had a lifelong passion for playing, writing, and listening to music and was accomplished on the drums, piano, and guitar. We all have many happy memories of Joe playing guitar wherever he might happen to be, whether on the beach, around a campfire, or just sitting at home, often accompanied by his family and friends who shared his love of music.

Joe leaves behind an abundance of friends and family who will greatly miss him. You couldn't have a conversation with Joe without feeling strongly connected to him. He had a deep faith and we know he is resting in God's hands. He will live forever in our hearts.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Kirkwood, NY on Tuesday, January 27th at 11 AM.
