Joseph T Pietrosanti Sr. 95, of Binghamton, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2020. He is predeceased by his wife, Doris Pietrosanti, and son, Anthony Pietrosanti; parents Saverio and Genevoffia Pietrosanti, siblings Peter, Armond, Rita and Clara. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Ann Marie (Ron) Tesar, Joseph Jr. (Patricia), Louis (Linda), Peter (Laurette), Michael, Genevieve (Steven) Meyer, Suzanne (Scott) Sherman, Louise (Ken) Waters; 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; brothers Phillip and Louie.
Joe enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1943 and retired from the Reserves in 1985 as a Chief Petty Officer. He served during World War II on the U.S.S. Piedmont as the Chief Boatswain's Mate. Joe was proud to assist with the Broome County Veterans Funeral Association. He was a lifetime member and past commander of the American Legion Post 80. Joseph was one of this year's recipients of the 2020 Veteran of Distinction award from the Broome County Legislator. Christmas was the most important holiday to Joe; he loved having his family at his house each year to celebrate. Joe loved to travel, reading books, puzzles,and telling stories about his life experiences. He truly loved people and gave the best hugs.
Joe loved his family unconditionally.
The family wishes to thank his Post 80 family, neighbors Scott, Claudia and Hugo, as well as all the nurses and caregivers at Lourdes Hospital for the loving care they provided to their Dad.
Visitations will be Monday from 4 until 6pm at the THOMAS SHEA FUNERAL HOME INC. 137 Robinson St. Binghamton, NY 13904. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Tuesday at 9:30am at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Binghamton, NY. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery with full military honors.
