Joyce Gioia

Joyce R. Gioia 86, of Binghamton, passed away on April 13, 2021. She is predeceased by her parents Romaine and Gladys (Curtis) Ford; husband of 64 years married on April 23, 1955, Donald who passed in 2019. She is survived by her children Eric Gioia, Diana Behlog, Judith Sears; grandchildren Samantha Behlog, Brandon Sears; great-granddaughter Lily. Joyce graduated from Binghamton North High in January of 1953. Joyce had many different jobs over the years. She was a Real Estate Broker from 1979 until retirement in 2018, working both in Binghamton and North Carolina. She was appointed by the Governor of New York to the Board of Visitors at the Greater Binghamton Health Center and was the president for 20 years until her retirement in 2018. Joyce was also a past President of the Mental Health Association. Joyce had the gift of gab and genuinely enjoyed her conversations with the many acquaintances she made throughout her life, some of whom became lifelong friends. She was a caring and compassionate person who always wanted to help anyone in need. Joyce was especially dedicated to the needs of the mentally ill. Joyce was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed.  We would like to thank her hospice team (Jill and Kim) and her caregivers, Tisha, Alexa, Sandra and Johnette for their help and compassionate care. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4 until 6pm at the THOMAS J. SHEA FUNERAL HOME INC. 137 Robinson St. Binghamton, NY 13904. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday at 9:30am at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Binghamton, NY. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
