Kathy Corey passed away peacefully in her home on March 11, 2025, with loving family holding her hands. She is survived by her three boys, Scott, Josh, and Geoffrey Corey; their spouses, Diane, Vanessa, and Corey; her beloved partner Nick Pappas, who never left her side; her brothers Marty and Rob Rogers and their spouses Patti Jo and Barb Rogers; as well as countless extended family, colleagues, and friends who felt like family. She is predeceased by her parents, John and Lorraine, and her brother Jack.
Kathy lived in Binghamton her entire life, and she worked at John Roger’s Electric for nearly 40 years. Later in life, she joyously worked as the receptionist at Catholic Charities where she said she did the most good. She was a devoted woman of faith, attending St. Catherine’s/Francis or St. Paul’s mass every week.
But being a mom to her three boys was what she called “the best job of all.” She attended all of their games, concerts, and shows; brought them on trips and played games; taught them The Golden Rule, doled out sage advice, and led by example. She became a second mother to many of her boys’ dearest friends.
Together with her beloved Nick, Kathy traveled to the best beaches, hiked the most beautiful trails, and danced the night away at concerts, weddings, and celebrations. She loved holidays with the Pappas family, where they laughed, ate, and needled each other with a smile.
Of her many accomplishments, she was most proud of starting a support group for divorced and separated parents, and writing a regular column in the newspaper - From The Heart - that brought her and her readers comfort and joy.
In her final days, she was surrounded by love, hugs, jokes, old stories, cute movies, pictures galore, and dear friends visiting from every stage of her life — just a few of her favorite things.
The family will receive friends and well-wishers from 5-7pm on Sunday, 3/16, at Thomas J. Shea Funeral Home, Inc. at 137 Robinson St. Binghamton, NY. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am Monday, March 17, 2025 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 282 Chenango St.
If desired, expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
