Kristy Ames Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce that our loving daughter Kristy Lyn Ames, a radiant soul from Binghamton, NY departed this earth on December 14, 2024 at the age of 35.  Her spirit, vibrance, love, light, and passion, will forever echo in the hearts of all who knew her.

Kristy leaves behind a family who adored her beyond measure: her father, Gary Ames (Robin Dewitte); her mother, Lyn Ames (Dennis Gould); her partner Mike Negros; her grandfather James Vimislik and grandmother Marilyn Baird.  As a part of a gregarious extended family, Kristy was cherished by many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces and Nephews who now carry her legacy in their hearts.

She is now reunited with her beloved grandparents, “Nana and Papa,” Edith and Elwin Ames; her grandmother Anne Vimislik and her Uncle Rick Ames, in the eternal embrace of peace.

Kristy’s love extended beyond words with her fur babies, Nala, Zazi and Binx. She showered them with endless affection.

Kristy's talents were beyond immeasurable. Her artistic abilities shined through her decor.  However, her true passion was revealed as a hairstylist. Kristy had an eye to combine hair colors for her clients that would be aesthetically pleasing to the eye and simply amazing.  She was an accredited makeup artist and lash extension specialist which brought an overwhelming client base to her business at Us Hair Studio.

She is loved by many lifelong friends, wo knew her true, one-of-a-kind soul. Kristy was a queen in every sense of the word- a woman whose beauty transcended above the surface also, internally.  Her character shone through in ways words cannot fully capture.  She possessed a rare combination of hard work, unyielding passion, and a selflessness that touched everyone she met.  Kristy’s honesty, a quality both sharp and endearing, made her a constant presence in the lives of those who loved her.   Her morbid sense of humor and fierce loyalty were as much a part of her as her warmth and kindness, which left a lasting imprint on the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.   She connected with others on a level that few could.  No one was a stranger to Kristy- she had a gift for making others feel seen, heard, and understood.

Though Kristy’s physical presence is no longer with us, her essence will live on forever as she has earned her place among the stars, and though we mourn, we also find comfort knowing that Kristy is now free and watching over us all.  We will celebrate her life and the immeasurable love she shared with each of us.

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the nurses and staff who walked with Kristy on her journey these past seven months.  Special thanks to Geo, Priscilla, Katherine, and Telisha- your care brought us comfort.

In Kristy’s honor, donations in kind can be made to The Broome County Humane Society of which Kristy was a regular donor.

A Celebration of Life will be held on March 15, 2025 at the American Legion Post 1645, 177 Robinson St. Binghamton, NY 13904 from 2pm to 6pm.

Kristy, we will carry you with us, and we will see you on the other side.

Rest in peace, Queen Kristy
